About Frogs

This page will describe the basic information about frogs and frogs' lifecycles as discussed by the students.

First we will go through the basic lifecycle.

The first stage is the egg.
Frogs lay eggs (lots of eggs!) in water. The eggs are jellysacks and look like tiny balls. Frogs lay their eggs and they just go away, tadpoles don't know their mom. Frogs eggs are easy food for loads of predators.

The second stage is the tadpole.
Tadpoles look like fish, they have a long tail which they wiggle to swim in water. Tadpoles can breathe underwater. Tadpoles are omnivorous they eat algae and other animals.
The third stage is called a pollywog.
A pollywog has a tail and 4 legs, which are useful for standing on rocks to breathe. Pollywogs can no longer get enough air from the water. Though, they are not ready to jump out ont land yet.

We will insert a photo when we have a pollywog

The fourth and final stage is an adult frog.
The adult frog can go on land and water. Their tail has disappeared (grown in), and they are ready to chase bugs.
